Alberta 5 Pin Press Release February 2021

Hello Everyone:

As many of you may have heard by now, the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association Events have cancelled all in-person national events.  These tournaments are the Open Nationals, IP Nationals, and the Youth Challenge Nationals.

The Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association has a goal to conduct these events virtually so that there is no unnecessary or out of Province travel.  They will be working on the possible frameworks for these events and are hoping to conduct these events on or around the dates originally scheduled for each event.

More information will be forthcoming after the Semi-Annual General Meeting in January 2021.  At this meeting, the C5PBA Board of Directors in consultation with the Provincial Delegates will make a final decision to proceed with the virtual events or to formally cancel all events (in person and virtual options) for the 2020 – 2021 season.

The Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers Association has discussed the possibility of hosting the Provincial events as a virtual event also, but no further decisions will be made until after the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association meeting.

For our 2019 – 2020 Calgary Open Contingent and High Low Bowlers who sold Elimination Tickets, the draws will take place as per the Gaming Licenses.  The draws will take place on December 31, 2020 at the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers Headquarters in Lethbridge.

The Calgary 5 Pin Bowlers Association continues to work with the Alberta 5 Pin Bowlers Association during this fluid pandemic situation.  We will advise our bowlers when new information is available, and we encourage you to connect with Calgary 5 on Facebook and our website for the latest information as it becomes available.  We appreciate your patience during this time as concrete information is sometimes difficult to come by as plans evolve to align with current public health requirements.

On behalf our Board, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas although this will be a vastly different one without loved ones around.  Our wish for 2021 is that Health, Love, and Prosperity for all.

Please continue to stay safe.

Maria Wood
